About

JACK Rack is an effects "rack" for the JACK low latency audio API. The rack can be filled with LADSPA effects plugins and can be controlled using the ALSA sequencer. It's phat; it turns your computer into an effects box.

Plea

[from Bob, the original author of JACK Rack]

I would ask that you do not use this program to make music that is for God, Jesus or Religion (eg, hymns, mantras, etc.) The internal dispute over determinism or non-determinism is not won out by sticking one's head in the sand and claiming that an omnipotent entity governs the universe just "because". Do not ask whether you will be judged to be good; ask why you are being judged at all.

"Fear is the parent of cruelty, and therefore it is no wonder if cruelty and religion have gone hand in hand." -- Bertrand Russell

Dependencies

JACK Rack requires JACK, GTK+2 and LADSPA 1.1. In order to save rack configurations, it needs libxml2. It will optionally use GNOME 2, LASH and can also use LRDF XML plugin descriptions (liblrdf relies on raptor.)

It needs a patchbay, for example jack_connect (command line, comes with JACK) or QJackConnect. If you don't have any LADSPA plugins, get some from here. Great guitar effects for LADSPA can be found in the CAPS package.

Stable

The current stable release of JACK Rack is 1.4.7.

The files are signed with my GPG key, key ID B94D2E95 (ats@offog.org). To verify that the file you've downloaded is intact, download the corresponding signature file and do:

gpg --recv-keys B94D2E95
gpgv jack-rack-1.4.7.tar.bz2.asc jack-rack-1.4.7.tar.bz2

You can get older stable releases and newer development releases from the download area.
